AROUND THE HORN
-- The Anchorage Glacier Pilots took advantage of missed opportunities by the Anchorage Bucs on Sunday to claim a 4-1 Alaska League triumph.
Despite getting the leadoff runner on base six times and loading the bases four times -- twice with the sacks juiced -- the Bucs fell to their crosstown rivals heading into their Independence Day doubleheader today.
Kavin Keyes and Maxx Garrett hit consecutive Andrew Walter pitches for RBIs in the fourth inning and Trey Nielsen homered for the Pilots in the eighth.
Philip Walby (1-2) was the winning pitcher for the Pilots and Cody Brown earned his first save of the summer. Walter (0-4) absorbed the defeat for the Bucs.
-- The Pilots and Bucs will celebrate the Fourth of July with a doubleheader today at Mulcahy Stadium, followed by a fireworks show and free giveaways. The first of the two seven-inning games begins at 6 p.m.
