AROUND THE HORN
-- Clay Eslick's spectacular catch in the bottom of the ninth inning preserved a 4-3 victory for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Wednesday as they beat the Athletes in Action Fire in an Alaska Baseball League game at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Pilots' Matt Vinson broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth, when he scored on a Fire error. Philip Walby was the winning pitcher, and Trevor Bayliss picked up a save. Ryan Miller ripped a solo home run for the Fire in the first inning.
-- Anchorage Bucs pitchers combined to hold the Peninsula Oilers to one hit Wednesday in a 3-0 ABL win at Seymour Memorial Park.
Kyle Finnegan pitched six innings of no-hit ball before being relieved by Brian McIlhenny, who allowed the Oilers only hit, to Tanner Rust, in the seventh inning.
Ryan Palermo put the Bucs on the board with a run in the second inning, and the Bucs scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning.
