AROUND THE HORN
-- The Anchorage Glacier Pilots won their third straight Alaska Baseball League game Saturday, convincingly knocking off the first-place Peninsula Oilers 6-2 at Mulcahy Stadium.
Cael Brockmeyer homered in the fifth inning to put an exclamation point on a game the Pilots led from start to finish. Tyler Linehan (2-1) picked up the win, and J.D. Salles (2-2) took the loss. The Pilots (12-15) moved to within 5 1/2 games of the Oilers (15-7).
Troy Channing and Greg Anderson each collected two hits and an RBI for the Oilers.
-- Ryan Goodbrand pitched a seven-inning three-hitter Saturday to lead the Anchorage Bucs to a 2-1 win over the Athletes in Action Fire in an ABL game at Mulcahy Stadium.
Davis Morgan's fourth inning solo homer off Taylor Aikenhead provided the winning margin, and Logan Davis drove in the Bucs' other run on a base hit in the second inning.
-- Matt Harjung's game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Anchorage Bucs their second ABL win Saturday, as they edged the Mat-Su miners 2-1 at Mulcahy Stadium.
Harjung's hit just stayed fair inside the third-base bag, bringing Jake Valdez home from second. The hit secured a win for relief pitcher Conner Kendrick, who struck out the last batter he faced to escape a bases-loaded jam in the top of the inning.
The Miners held a 1-0 lead throughout most of the game, but the Bucs scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to force the extra inning.
-- Today's ABL all-star action at Mulcahy Stadium begins with a home-run derby at 2 p.m., and the all-star game at 4 p.m.
