Aaron Cook, 26, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, misconduct involving a weapon in the second degree, and reckless endangerment.
"He's off the streets," Lt. Dave Parker said Sunday evening. Police had considered him armed and dangerous.
Witnesses told police that Cook became upset when he was denied entry into Platinum Jaxx because he didn't have his ID. He returned a few minutes later with his ID but the security staff still didn't let him in because he was cursing and being verbally abusive, Parker said.
Cook left the nightclub a second time and returned with a pistol, police say. He shot a security officer outside the bar, and the bullet passed through the security officer's leg and struck a male patron in the hip, police say. Both men were taken to hospitals for treatment. Their gunshot wounds aren't considered life-threatening, police say.
Someone reported the shooting to police at 3:19 a.m.
Police say Cook left in his Chevy Impala with three other people. They found the car a few hours later but no one was in it. Police obtained felony warrants for Cook's arrest.
Cook ended up in Mountain View at the home of a woman who saw a story about the shooting on the 5 p.m. news. She told him she was calling police, and did, Parker said. She left the home. A few minutes after 6 p.m., police arrested Cook without any trouble, Parker said.
