Feds award more than $2 million for tribal energy projects in Alaska

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu says more than $2 million in federal funding will be awarded for tribal energy projects in Alaska. Federal officials say the projects will receive $2.38 million over two years.

Altogether, $6.3 million will be awarded nationwide for 31 tribal energy projects. Officials say the projects are geared for advancing clean and efficient energy. Alaska recipients include the Sea Lion Corp. in Hooper Bay, the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium for work in Selawik, the Tlingit Haida Regional Housing Authority and the Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council.
