The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says the magnitude 5.3 quake occurred at 6 a.m. Thursday about eight miles northwest of Skwentna and 74 miles northwest of Anchorage.
It was felt in a vast section of the state, including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Valdez, Willow and Talkeetna.
There are no immediate reports of damage.
