A judo team made up of 11 Alaskans competed in the USA Judo Junior Olympic National Championships last week in Irving, Texas, producing some good performances in a meet that drew more than 950 of the top competitors in the country.

Miranda Aiken of Mat-Su Judo finished fourth in the national tournament and second in the international tournament, Fireweed Judo's Dorian Mellon was fifth in nationals and Sydney Poorbaugh from Mat-Su Judo nabbed third place in the international event.
