A Washington woman accused of conspiring to kill a former fiance outside Anchorage has asked a judge for permission to travel home for a medical procedure. KTUU reported Mechele Linehan, a former Anchorage stripper who eventually settled in Olympia, Wash., was denied a change in bail conditions but will be allowed a hearing on evidence of her medical issue, a degenerative condition in her knee.
Linehan was convicted in 2007 of killing Kent Leppink, who was shot on an isolated trail 11 years earlier. Prosecutors claimed she was inspired by watching the 1994 movie "The Last Seduction," in which a femme fatale coaxes her lover into killing her husband.
The Alaska Court of Appeals ruled in 2010 the trial judge wrongly allowed that connection to be made.
