Police on Friday identified a man found dead near an illegal outdoor camp in Midtown last Saturday.

The body of Randall McCarty, 54, was discovered in a wooded area near Tudor Road and Eau Claire Place, near the Seward Highway, police said.

Police spokeswoman Anita Shell said McCarty's body was near a homeless camp.

Police located McCarty's next of kin in Oregon and notified them of his death Thursday, Shell said.

Detectives do not suspect foul play in McCarty's death, the spokeswoman said.

A medical examiner conducted an autopsy and would issue an official cause of death after receiving results of a toxicology test, Shell said.
