Airline names regional officer

August 8, 2011

A former newspaper publisher has started her new job as the regional vice president in Alaska for an airline. Marilyn Romano started the position Monday in Anchorage for Alaska Airlines. She will work with Bill MacKay, the airline's outgoing senior vice president, until his retirement Oct. 10.

Romano worked at the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner for nearly two decades, and became publisher in 2000.

Kathryn Johnson Strle was named the new general manager at the News-Miner, replacing Romano.
