Nunaka Valley today bounced back from Wednesday's tough 2-1 loss to beat Willemstad, Curacao, 2-0 in their last game of pool play at the Junior Softball World Series in Kirkland, Wash.
Sydney Smith pitched four innings of no-hit softball, and Heather Breslin relieved Sydney to finish the game, giving up just one hit in her three innings of work.
The win put the young teen Alaskans at 2-2 in pool play, with the top two teams in their pool advancing to Friday's semifinals. The girls are waiting for the outcome of today's 12:45 p.m. game to see if they qualify for the semifinals or one of the friendship games.
