Maren Bradley of Carcross, Yukon, signed up this week for the 2012 race, which begins Feb. 4 in Fairbanks. He joins a field of 19 and is the lone Canadian among an otherwise all-Alaska field.

Mushers have until Dec. 9 to enter the race for the $1,500 entry fee. After that, entries go up to $2,000. No entries will be accepted after Jan. 6. A purse of $150,000 is up for grabs, the Star reported.

Not yet signed up is defending champion Dallas Seavey of Sterling. But four-time Iditarod champion Lance Mackey of Two Rivers, the winner of the Quest from 2005 through 2008 and the runner-up in 2010, is among those who have entered.
