Jeremy Bienek, 39, had driven the 18-year-old woman to a parking lot at Kincaid for a driving lesson Aug. 15, said detective Ken McCoy. She was a family friend of Bienek's, McCoy said.
After she'd driven the vehicle around the park, Bienek convinced the woman to walk with him on a trail, McCoy said. At one point, Bienek branched off from the trail and headed into the woods. The woman followed, McCoy said.
Bienek was hiding a roll of duct tape, the detective said.
"He was able to get her hands taped to the tree and get a piece of tape over her mouth," McCoy said.
The alleged victim fought with Bienek as he tried to remove her pants, McCoy said. She was able to break free from the tape, the detective said.
"He tries to calm her down and says, basically, that he was only joking, that he wasn't going to do anything," McCoy said.
Bienek then drove her home, where she told her family what had happened. They confronted Bienek, who left quickly, McCoy said.
A detective found duct tape on the tree and evidence of a struggle, McCoy said. Officers arrested Bienek on Tuesday.
Bienek was charged with first-degree attempted sexual assault and was held without bail.
