Tryouts are 8 a.m. to noon each day.
Registration is $50 for the first 25 players to arrive and $75 for all others, according to the team's Facebook page. That's a discount from the originally stated fees of $75 for those who preregister and $100 for those who don't.
Fees will be refunded to players who make the team.
The Quake, who will operate as a nonprofit organization, are co-owned by Carol Taylor and Shana Harris, both of Anchorage. The head coach is Adam Lewis, who will be assisted by Robert Harris III.
The team will try to do what the Alaska Dream was unable to do back in 2008 -- survive. The Dream, coached by former UAF coach Al Sokaitis, played three exhibition games before folding due to financial difficulties.
"The problem has been the cost of travel to and from Alaska," Joe Newman, CEO of the ABA, said in a news release announcing the Quake's formation on the ABA website. "If all works as planned, we will be sending at least seven teams to play games there as part of the regular season schedule this season."
The Quake will try to minimize problems related to travel by playing only home games. The Quake are scheduled to play 14 games at Begich Middle School and none on the road, according to the team's website (alaskaquake.com).
