The mine was shut down after a worker, 30-year-old Joe Tagaban, was killed Sept. 7 when he was struck by rock traveling through a drill hole.

The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration confirmed to KINY that the mine is open. However, the federal agency's closure order on blasting operations remains in effect.

Owner Coeur d'Alene Mines says it is cooperating in the investigation. The company also is finalizing updated blasting procedures.
