District Judge Mike Salvagni sentenced Michael P. Duby on Monday and ordered him to pay $15,500 in fines and restitution.
Duby, his 62-year-old father, Michael W. Duby of Arizona, and a friend, 42-year-old Jeffrey C. Fritz of Washington, were charged after an investigation revealed that between 2004 and 2009 they illegally killed numerous large game animals in Gallatin County. The elder Duby and Fritz pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges but received no jail time.
The younger Duby pleaded no contest in April to four felony charges of illegal possession of game animals, The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports. He also is accused of breaking wildlife laws in Alaska.
