Anchorage Assemblyman Paul Honeman announced Wednesday that he's running for mayor.
Honeman, a former police officer who represents East Anchorage on the Assembly, in July submitted his intent to run to the Alaska Public Offices Commission and made it official Wednesday with a press conference at Northway Mall.
He charged Mayor Dan Sullivan hasn't run an open administration or managed the city's taxes well, questioning how the city ended with a surplus.
The election is April 3.
