PELICAN -- An Alaska Native corporation has agreed to sell its utility and other assets to the city of Pelican.

The Juneau Empire says Kake Tribal Corp. intends to sell all or substantially all of its assets in the Pelican Utility District to the city.

Pelican is located 70 miles west of Juneau on Chichagof Island.

The corporation faced a Wednesday filing deadline set by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska in connection with Pelican's request to run the Pelican Utility District instead of Kake Tribal Corp.

The commission has agreed to delay its proceedings and allow the agreement to go forward.
