Volunteers from Abbott Road Home Depot, including Lita Brumbelow, left, spread and rake sand donated by the store while helping install a play area for young kids ages 2-5 at Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park on Monday morning along Westchester Lagoon. The playground, with an adjacent recreation area for older kids, was a dream of some neighbors who helped secure funding from the legislature, said Beth Nordlund of Anchorage Park Foundation. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m., with kids expected to attend as Friday is an in-service day for the Anchorage School District. Youngsters in Anchorage will get an extra treat druing a teachers' in-service day Friday. Offricials will cut the ribbon to open a new playground at Margaret Eagan Park near Westchester Lagoon at 1:30 p.m. The playground, with an adjacent recreation area for older kids, was built by volunteers wtih funding from the Legislature, said Beth Nordlund of Anchorage Park Foundation.
