SOLDOTNA -- A brave brown bear is hanging out in a Soldotna neighborhood behind the police station.

The Peninsula Clarion reported six sightings of the bear one night this week. Police have fielded numerous complaints about the bear in garbage cans in the River View neighborhood. The bear also knocked over a fence trying to elude capture.

Police will coordinate with state game officials to deal with the bear.
