Alaskans 1 and 2 at baseball tournament

Published: October 15, 2011

A team of Alaska high school baseball all-stars on Saturday won its first game after two losses at the Arizona Fall Classic in Phoenix, one of the biggest tournaments in the nation for high school players. Led by Max Karnos, who allowed two hits over four innings, Alaska took a 7-2 victory over Rawlings Prospect, a team made up of players from across the country. Sagan Osborne belted two triples and a double and Thys Grogan had an RBI and a pair of hits for the Alaskans.

In games earlier in the week, Alaska fell 11-4 to a Colorado team (Alaska got RBIs from Damon Hammer, Lance Ibesate, Connor Cucullu and Kyle Kornegay) and lost 8-5 to a team from Canada (Zach Ferntheil delivered a pair of RBI doubles and Kornegay and Osborne both chipped in two hits and an RBI).
