Weaver, Williams rack up straight-set, early-round tennis wins

Jeremy Weaver and Whitney Williams each earned straight-set victories Friday in the Alaska State Junior Tennis Championships at The Alaska Club North. Weaver topped Alec Parry 6-3, 6-2 in a round-of-16 match in the boys 18 division. Williams cruised past Emma Neslund 6-0, 6-1 in a round-robin match in the girls 18 singles division.

Boys 18 singles round of 16 -- Jeremy Weaver d. Alec Parry 6-3, 6-2; Patrick Walgren d. John Gutsch 6-2, 6-2; Nicholas Raugust d. Robert Miller, 6-3; 6-1.

Boys 16 singles quarterfinals -- Reed Lekander d. Cole Fox 6-1, 6-1; Jayden Hodgson d. Lucas Schneider 6-0, 6-0; Joseph Hemry d. Lennart Von Schlichting 6-2, 6-4.

Girls 18 singles round robin -- Whitney Williams d. Emma Neslund 6-0, 6-1; Leah Fortson d. Adrienne Fox 7-6, 6-2; Adrienne Fox d. Emma Neslund 6-0, 6-1; Whitney Williams d. Grace Weinstein 6-2, 6-0.

Girls 16 singles quarterfinals -- Christine Hemry d. Lauren Drake 6-3, 6-2.

Girls 14 singles round robin -- Christine Hemry d. Allison Haynes 6-0, 6-0; Ava Lekander d. Elana Fortson 6-1, 6-3.

Boys 18 singles round robin -- Christopher Alfiche d. Edwin Burton 6-0, 6-1.
