Twenty-nine prospective police officers begin training on the first day of Anchorage Police Academy 11-1 Monday October 24, 2011 at the Anchorage Police Training Center in south Anchorage. The recruits are beginning six months of training, to be followed by 14 weeks in the field working a variety of shifts in the first academy held since 2008.
