Alaska officials said a company is recalling snack chips because some packages contain cashews but that ingredient is not declared on labels. Officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation said the incorrect packaging and labeling prompted Rhythm Superfoods LLC to issue the recall of Kool Ranch Kale Chips.
DEC program manager Lorinda Lhotka said one case of an allergic reaction has been reported outside Alaska.
According to officials, cashews are a potentially life-threatening allergen.
The recalled packages have a UPC/SKU code of 8 29739 00052 1 with "sell-by" dates in March 2012 and April 2012.
