Troops Home from Afghanistan

145 soldiers from the 164th Military Police Company, 793rd Military Police Battalion, 2nd Engineer Brigade returned to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson from a 12 month deployment in Afghanistan on Saturday, March 24, 2012. The soldiers were reunited with family and friends after a brief ceremony at the Buckner Physical Fitness Center.

Annual Stand Down event for veterans set for Friday at airport

Stand Down, an event designed to help veterans in need with medical screenings and legal, housing and employment assistance, is set for 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday at the North Terminal, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Free transportation to and from the airport will be provided by Princess Tours. Buses will serve the Northway Mall and the VA Domiciliary at 3000 C St. Pickups will occur on the hour, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (except noon) from the mall and on the half hour, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (except 12:30 p.m.) from the domiciliary. Also, People Mover buses will be free to veterans with VA ID cards. People Mover can take vets to the mall or domiciliary, or Bus 7A drops off at the North Terminal.
