JUNEAU --Alaska residents will be able to get real-time updates for most state ferries through the 511 system. 511 provides weather and transportation information.

The Alaska Marine Highway System says ferry information will be available, via 511, 24 hours a day. However, real-time data for the fast ferries won't be available until next summer.

The ferry system says the same information available through 511 will also be on its website.
