KTUU-TV reported that the state Department of Natural Resources held its last public forum on the issue Tuesday night, and more than 300 people signed up to speak on the issue.
Supporters of the proposed Wishbone Hill mine say the project would create about 100 high-paying jobs for the area. Opponents say it will lower home values and put public health at risk.
Usibelli Coal Mine is seeking permits to build the project, which would be less than a mile from dozens of homes and businesses.
