Valley students to march in NY Thanksgiving parade

Two students from Colony High School in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough will be heading to New York City for a musical Thanksgiving.

Senior Gina Aki, a flute player, and junior Ryan Brehmer, a clarinet player, will be marching and playing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. They leave Friday and will begin practicing Saturday.

KTUU-TV reports they auditioned and were picked from among hundreds of students for Macy's Great American Marching Band.

They will march for about two miles in front of an estimated 3.5 million spectators. The television audience is estimated at 50 million.
