Retired UAF professor in critical condition after crash

FAIRBANKS -- A retired University of Alaska Fairbanks physics professor is in critical condition after a car crash.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that 65-year-old David Sentman's medical condition may be unrelated to injuries from the crash.

He was transferred to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.

Troopers said Sentman was driving a sport utility vehicle east on Alumni Drive and ran a red light on University Avenue. His SUV was struck by a pickup and the vehicles then struck a second pickup waiting to make a turn.

Troopers say the vehicles suffered moderate damage.

Sentman retired in May after 20 years at the university and was given emeritus status.
