The wreck, between a pickup and an SUV, shut down the highway about 2:15 p.m. Traffic was flowing again by 3:15 p.m., troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said.
The driver of the SUV, a Honda Santa Fe, was headed southbound and lost control; the SUV went into the northbound lane, where it was struck on one side by the Dodge pickup, Peters said.
"Road conditions are a little icy with some snow on the road," Peters said in an e-mail.
Four people in the SUV were trapped and firefighters worked to extricate them, she said. All four were taken to a hospital. One person was knocked unconscious but the extent of any other injuries was unknown, Peters said.
Two people in the pickup were uninjured, she said.
The highway's southbound lanes were reopened by 3:15 p.m.; northbound traffic was being diverted around the wreck until one of the vehicles was towed away, Peters said.
Names and ages of those involved in the wreck were unavailable, she said.
