KODIAK -- A wildlife official in Kodiak says people should be aware of a bear hanging around the east side of town.

Larry Van Daele with the state Department of Fish and Game told KMXT officials at two nearby schools have been informed about the bear's presence, and students have been reminded of bear safety.

He said the bear has not caused any problems, but people should exercise proper bear caution.
