KODIAK -- KMXT reported the Rock Island Rollers joined the growing ranks of women's roller derby teams in Alaska. There are already squads in places like Anchorage, Fairbanks and Wasilla. The Rollers will be based in Kodiak.
Coco Friccero said she and other club officers want to use school gyms like other adult leagues, including volleyball and basketball teams. They will seek permission Thursday before the Parks and Recreation Commission.
The Rollers hope to begin practicing next month.
