The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports no one was injured in the slides. The owners of one home were away, and the other home's owners were advised to leave. One home was moved off its foundation, and the outside wall of the other was destroyed.
The owners of four other homes were warned about continuing worries of the 100-foot wide slide.
The second slide caused water to wash out parts of Blue Lake Road near the industrial park and caused damage in a park.
Sitka officials say about 2 inches of rain in a 24-hour period, coupled with the rapid melt of snow, contributed to the slides and flooding.
