Former five-time Mayor George Ahmaogak lost the election to Charlotte Brower, who took office Nov. 15. That same day Ahmaogak filed a notice that he was contesting the results of the election.

The Borough Assembly ordered an investigation as a result.

Ahmaogak says he formally submitted grounds and basis for the investigation on Friday. He says he is basing his contest on "balloting and election irregularities."

A few weeks before the election, Ahmaogak's wife, Maggie, was indicted by a federal grand jury, accused of stealing about $475,000 from the Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission.
