Kornmuller topped a competitive field of nine teams by edging Hollingsworth, whose snowhook got stuck in the snow as the countdown for his start reached zero. Kornmuller won in 44 minutes, 27 seconds, with Hollingsworth right behind in 44:37. Egil Ellis of Fur Rendezvous fame placed third in 45:08.
In the 8-dog class, Christian Taveau picked up his second win in as many weekends by dominating with an eight-mile run of 25:39. He was almost two minutes ahead of second-place Kris Rasey (27:34).
Mushers and ski-jorers enjoyed perfect conditions -- no wind, no new snow and minus-10 temperatures.
