Dignitaries attend a press conference for Freddy's Coats for Kids Wednesday December 14, 2011 at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program Warehouse in midtown Anchorage. Fred Meyer is donating 10,000 coats and 4,000 pairs of snow pants to be distributed to children throughout Alaska by The Salvation Army. Lynden Transport is donating more than $10,000 in transportation, getting the merchandise to Anchorage and then helping move it along to the Mat-Su Valley, Fairbanks, Kenai and Juneau. In Southeast The Salvation Army will distribute items to Haines, Hoonah, Angoon, Kake, Wrangell, Sitka and Petersburg. About 60 coats have already been delivered to Wales as well. Gov. Parnell and Mayor Dan Sullivan attended the event to thank all participants.
