And when Goldie is running hot, it seems like there's no shortage of ammunition in his arsenal.
Lately, the veteran right wing is enjoying a stretch in which he scoring regularly.
Entering tonight's opener of a three-game road series against the Idaho Steelheads, Goldie has delivered six goals in the last six games, and 10 goals in the last 12 games.
With 13 goals in 25 games -- Goldie missed two games while serving an ECHL-imposed suspension -- he is tied with winger and occasional linemate Dan Kissel for the team lead in goals.
At 32, Goldie is the league's reigning Most Valuable Player and goal-scoring champion -- he notched 46 goals last regular season, which made him the only player in league history with five consecutive seasons of 40 or more goals.
Goldie is on pace to score 36 goals this season. Of course, he could blow by that total, especially is he doesn't have another slump and if the Aces continue to get production from a power play that is one the rise.
Goldie also has a strong chance to this season become the ECHL's all-time leading goal scorer. He currently sits No. 2 all-time with 348 goals, just 20 shy of ECHL Hall of Famer Rod Taylor, who bagged 368 goals in the league.
Should Goldie score at least 30 goals this season, he would also join Taylor as the only player in league history with eight seasons of 30 or more goals. A 30-goal season would also allow Goldie to join Taylor and Dany Bousquet as the only players in ECHL history to generate six consecutive seasons scoring 30 or more goals.
With 570 career points in the ECHL, Goldie also stands No. 13 on the league's all-time points list. And his 652 career regular-season games in the ECHL ranks him No. 5 all-time.
Shuffling the deck
Second-year winger Garry Nunn, who owns a four-game point streak (3-2--5), has produced 6-8--14 totals in the last 12 games. Only Goldie has furnished more points (10-8--18) in that span.
Wingers Tyler Ruegsegger and Chris Bruton should be back in the lineup tonight after returning from stints in the American Hockey League. Here's a weird one -- Ruegsegger and Idaho's Kael Mouillierat last week were teammates with AHL Bridgeport, but will be on opposite sides of the puck tonight.
The Aces are 4-0-1 against the Idaho Steelheads this season, sweeping a three-game series at Sullivan Arena in October and getting three points out of two games in Boise in mid-November. The Aces won 7-2 there, then lost 1-0 in overtime. Alaska has outscored Idaho 16-6 in the five games.
Idaho's Chad Klassen entered Tuesday tied for fourth in the league in points and tops among rookies with 11-18--29 totals in 24 games.
There's an Alaskan on the Steelheads. Defenseman Brent Cornelius has played three games for Idaho, furnishing an assist and a plus-3 rating. He took an unusual path to the pros -- after playing junior in the U.S. Hockey League, Cornelius played club hockey at Iowa State and captained the team his last three seasons.
