The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says the magnitude 3.9 quake was centered about 12 miles southwest of Anchorage and was recorded occurring at a depth of 28 miles.
Both the center and Anchorage police say there have been no immediate reports of damage.
Besides Anchorage, officials say, the temblor was felt by residents along a 50-mile swath from Girdwood to Palmer.
