Kornmuller for the second day in a row registered the fastest time in the 12-mile open competition at the Tudor Road track. Sunday he and his dogs made the run in 39 minutes, 15 seconds -- almost a minute faster than their 40:11 on Saturday.
Kornmuller's two-run total of 1 hour, 19 minutes, 26 seconds was 50 seconds faster than runnerup Daryl Hollingsworth's 1:20:16. Hollingsworth trailed Kornmuller by 35 seconds after Saturday's heat.
Third place in the season's first sprint race at the Anchorage track went to Ricky Taylor, whose 1:21:23 edged Michael Tetzner by nine seconds.
Tetzner captured the eight-dog class victory, while other wins went to Kim Wells (6-dog class), Bev Stevens (4 dogs) and Pam Shamber (3 dogs).
Junior racing is on tap at Tozier Track today beginning at 11 a.m.
