Hilcorp assumed operations Sunday.

The companies announced the deal in July. It covers Union Oil contracts and interests in the Swanson River, Granite Point, Middle Ground Shoals, Trading Bay and MacArthur River fields.

It also covers interests in two pipeline companies -- Cook Inlet Pipeline Co. and Kenai Kachemak Pipeline, LLC -- plus 10 offshore platforms, two onshore gas fields and two gas storage facilities.

Chevron in July said it would maintain its interests in the Alaska North Slope and in the trans-Alaska oil pipeline.
