KTUU says heavy snow in the mountains this winter is causing moose to look for easier paths -- and they're finding them on Southcentral Alaska roads.
The Alaska Moose Federation says several moose have been hit by cars just in the last few days in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Borough.
The group, which responds to car-moose crashes, says this winter is on track to being well above average for the numbers of moose killed by vehicles.
Federation founder Gary Olson says drivers should keep their headlights and windshields free of ice. They also should slow for poor conditions, regardless of posted speed limits.
