Pipeline feasibility bill still an option, House speaker says

The measure, introduced last session, got pushed to the backburner amid debate over an oil tax cut plan and the budget. But the pipeline project still lacks commitments from producers, and the governor has called on the major North Slope players to unite behind a line that would allow for exports to Asia, if the market has shifted.

Chenault, who has strongly supported a smaller, in-state pipeline, says he doesn't think it's the time to back away from any project. But a decision has to be made at some point, he says, on what's best for the state.
