State Superior Court Judge David George on Monday ordered John Marvin Jr. committed to the Alaska Psychiatric Institute. No immediate trial date has been set. An evidentiary hearing is scheduled for April.

Marvin had been set to stand trial Jan. 30.

The decision was first reported by KTOO radio.

District Attorney David Brower confirmed the court's action but declined further comment. Marvin faces charges of murder and weapons misconduct in the August 2010 deaths of Matthew Tokuoka and Anthony Wallace.
