The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission canceled a Jan. 18 scoping meeting for the project, and says it will cancel future meetings if TransCanada doesn't file the reports by Jan. 17.

TransCanada has said it remains on track to make application to the commission for a proposed pipeline in October. Larry Persily, federal coordinator for Alaska gas pipeline projects, says the sooner the company gets its reports in, the sooner federal agencies can provide feedback.

It also would give TransCanada more time to fill in any holes to meet the October deadline it faces under its contract with the state.
