After helping the eighth-ranked UAA women's basketball team claim two home wins last week and extend its winning streak to 10 games, UAA junior Alysa Horn on Monday was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Horn led the Seawolves with 34 points in wins against Montana State-Billings and Seattle Pacific. The 6-foot forward from Kodiak also grabbed eight rebounds and made all six of her free throws. She hit 13 of 26 field goals, including a first-half 3-pointer that broke a 21-21 tie against Seattle Pacific, giving the Seawolves the lead for good Saturday.
Horn is the third Seawolf to win the award this season, following Haley Holmstead's two honors and Hanna Johansson's one. Horn is the third-leading scorer and rebounder for UAA, averaging 10.3 points per game and 5.1 rebounds.
