Simon Fraser grabbed a 77-69 victory in Burnaby, British Columbia to snap UAA's 10-game winning streak and hand the Seawolves their first loss of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference season.

The Clan (9-5 overall, 4-2 GNAC) drained 14 of 22 shots from 3-point range, with Kristina Collins hitting 5 of 7 and Erin Chambers hitting 4 of 6. Those two were among five players to reach double figures for Simon Fraser.

UAA (14-3, 5-1) shot a below-average 38 percent and made just four 3-pointers.

The Seawolves took control early, leading 13-3, but needed an 8-0 run at the end of the half to trail by just one point, 33-31, at intermission.

Haley Holmstead poured in a game-high 22 points on 8 of 14 shooting and Hanna Johansson missed a double-double by one rebound, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds. Tijera Mathews added 13 points.

The Seawolves had a slight rebounding edge, 37-34, and took much better care of the ball than the Clan, forcing 21 turnovers while committing 13.

But Simon Fraser had the hot hands, and that's what mattered most. The Clan shot 52 percent from the field, including 61 percent in the second half when they buried 7 of 10 treys and built a lead that grew to as many as 13 points.

UAA rallied to make it 61-58 with six minutes to go, but the Seawolves came no closer.

Collins' 18 points led Simon Fraser, which also got a big game from center Nayo Raincock Ekunwe (11 points, 15 rebounds).

The Seawolves play on the road again Saturday and it could be another tough game -- their opponent is defending regular-season champion Western Washington.
