Lyle Ludvick, 44, entered his plea Thursday in Kenai Superior Court in the July 2010 death of Brendan McGee.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 16.
The Peninsula Clarion reported that in exchange for his plea, prosecutors have agreed to drop two counts of second-degree murder, burglary, assault and tampering with evidence charges. It calls for a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison, if the judge agrees.
