Borough asserts its records on Miller weren't confidential

FAIRBANKS -- The Fairbanks North Star Borough is denying that its employees released confidential information from former U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller's personnel file.

Miller worked for the borough as a part-time lawyer. He sued borough employees and former Mayor Jim Whitaker after media outlets reported that Miller was ineligible to be rehired and was reprimanded for using computers for political work.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that the borough says there is no evidence that any employee leaked information to the press that wasn't allowed by law.

Miller beat incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the 2010 Republican primary but lost in the general election after Murkowski mounted a successful write-in campaign.
