The Fisheries Industrial Technology Center in Kodiak has a new name.
University of Alaska Fairbanks officials announced in a release that the new name is the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center.
The University of Alaska Board of Regents gave the OK to the new name last month.
Paula Cullenberg, the co-director of the Kodiak center, says the new name better describes the work being done in Kodiak. She adds that a new name does not mean there's a change in the center's mission.
