Anchorage's Pulse Dance Company, with guests from Anchorage Classical Ballet and Kenai Peninsula Artists in Motion, presents "eight thought-provoking" dances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Sydney Laurence Theatre. Receptions on both nights include spirits, hors d'oeuvres and, on Saturday, a silent auction. Tickets are $17, $15 for youth, available at centertix.net.

The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will give a free "Neighborhood Concert" at 2 p.m. Saturday at West High Auditorium. The program features audience favorites like "The 1812 Overture" and music from "Star Wars." Fun and casual, the concert lasts about an hour and is perfect for families with kids. Alaska Robotics, the Juneau consortium that makes short, comic films, is showing some of their best work at 9:30 tonight in the Alaska Experience Theatre at the Fourth Avenue Marketplace, Fourth Avenue and C Street. The shorts include animation and live action, skits and art pieces, topics like whaling, oil spills and how you spell "Murkowski." This screening is limited to patrons 21 and older because alcoholic beverages will be sold.
